Gold Mountain Rottweilers
We had an exceptional show weekend at the NIRK 2009 Texas State Championship. The judge was the NIRK Judge, Mr. Mike LeCuyer. Mike was an phonomenal judge and placed the dogs very well and gave incredible critiques. We want to take a moment to thank him, not only for his placements but for dealing with the beginning of a "look's to be HOT" Texas Summer.

An Intro to our Breeding Program
To introduce you to our kennel, our dogs, our goals and our breeding program, we need to explain why we have chosen the dogs that we have in our kennel. We are breeding with the following foundation males (ancestors) that are prevolent throughout all of our dogs pedigree trees as the foundation as to what we own, what we breed and what we hope to produce. We find that today's current winners, whether on the show field or the working field, to have come from one of these males or sometimes, the combination of these males.
To understand our breedings, you must first understand the history behind the dogs that we breed. Click here to learn more about these incredible dogs.
Breeding No Less Than Excellent/Good
We have chosen these stud dogs as our foundation to our own kennel and our own breeding program for a few different reasons. One, the working capability. We want to produce strong working temperments, that can achieve on any working field, whether it be agility, herding or Schutzhund. Second, we chose them for their achivements in the show rings and their sound conformation. We believe that the winning rottweiler should posses both the temperment and the conformation, and should excel in both of these aspects. Finally, we have chosen these few for the sucess that their progeny have achieved. A good stud dog is only as good as the progeny he produces. What good would he be if he couldn't pass on his winning characteristics to his pups. For these reasons, we have founded our kennel and our breeding program on the above dogs.
We are proud to have two great males in our breeding program, with an oustanding youth male waiting in the wings. Redwood Krest's Orso and Oscar vom Extrem are both OFA EXCELLENT for their hips. Both males have been V Rated in the Seiger style show rings. All of our adult females are imported, and all of them have been V Rated in the Seiger style show rings as well. All of our girls have an hip rating of Good or Excellent.
Our dogs have the following hip ratings:
- Oscar ~ HD/ED Frei & OFA Excellent
- Orso ~ OFA Excellent
- Dina ~ HD Frie
- Daphne ~ HD A
- Lora ~ OFA Excellent
- Oxana ~ HD/ED Frei
- Aurora ~ OFA Good
According to a statistics published by the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals, out of the 87,551 rottweilers that they evaluated between Jan. 1974 and Dec. 2007, only 8% of these dogs received an Excellent hip rating.

Currently we are testing hips and just recently elbows inside of our kennel. In Febraury of 2009, we tested our entire kennel over the age of 1 and are pleased to announce that they are all Cardiac Cleared Normal by a Certified Cardiologist. We are working right now to have all of our dogs microchipped, DNA'd, Hips, Elbows, Eyes and Hearts all tested. I personally think that health testing is of an extreme importance in our breed, but we don't want the testing to get pushed so far to the top of the "to do list" that temperment and structure is forgotten. Our focus is currently on the "complete" dog, both physically, mentally and through sound conformation. We will be updating our site as we move forward with the health testing through the OFA organization. Germany and many of the overseas countries do not have any of this kind of testing.
We hope that this has helped you understand us, our dogs, and our breeding program a little bit more. Feel free to browse around through our site, and make sure to visit our nursery, through our litters page. We have some exceptional litters that are here and some on the way. We are actively showing in the Seiger Style show rings and will be placing some of ours with an AKC handler so that they can be shown in the AKC Circuit as well.... Look for us in a ring near you!
